Position Overview:

As the Human Resources Specialist, you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of human resources management, including recruitment, employee relations, performance management, and compliance. Your role involves supporting employees, implementing HR policies and procedures, and fostering a positive and inclusive work environment.

Responsibilities:

  1. Recruitment and Onboarding: Manage the recruitment process, including job postings, screening candidates, conducting interviews, and facilitating new hire onboarding.
  2. Employee Relations: Serve as a point of contact for employee inquiries, provide guidance on HR policies and procedures, and address employee concerns in a timely and professional manner.
  3. Performance Management: Implement performance management processes, including goal setting, performance evaluations, and feedback sessions to support employee growth and development.
  4. HR Policies and Procedures: Develop, implement, and update HR policies and procedures to ensure compliance with employment laws and regulations.
  5. Benefits Administration: Manage employee benefits programs, including health insurance, retirement plans, and other employee perks.
  6. Training and Development: Coordinate training and development initiatives to enhance employee skills and knowledge and support career advancement.
  7. Employee Engagement: Develop and implement strategies to promote employee engagement, morale, and retention.
  8. Compliance: Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.

Qualifications:

  • Strong knowledge of human resources principles, practices, and procedures.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational and problem-solving skills.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
  • A minimum of 2-3 years of experience in human resources management roles.
  • HR certification (e.g., SHRM-CP, PHR) is a plus.

Independent contractor positions:

  • An Independent Contractor Within the Context of The Ohio ACE: (Application for Contractor Employment) adheres to the employment guidelines specified in the job description. An independent contractor is an individual or entity engaged by Ohio ACE to perform specific tasks, services, or projects on a contractual basis. The nature of the employment implies that the contractor operates independently and is not considered an employee of Ohio ACE 
  • Contractual Agreement: The independent contractor is bound by a formal written agreement outlining the scope of work deliverables Timelines and lines and compensation terms. This application serves as the basis for the work relationship between the contractor and Ohio ACE.
  • Relationship Between the Contractor and Ohio ACE: Unlike employee’s independent contractors do not receive benefits such as health insurance, vacation pay, sick leave, employment benefits, retired contributions, or pay time off from Ohio ACE. Contractors are responsible for securing their own insurance coverage and managing their time off. 
  • Tax Responsibility: Independent contractors are responsible for their own taxes, including Income taxes and self-employment taxes. Ohio ACE does not withhold taxes from the contractor’s compensation, and the contractor is required to report their income to the appropriate tax authorities.
  • Project Based Engagement Independent: Contractors are typically engaged for a specific project or a defined. With a clear start and end date, the scope of work and objectives are well. Defined in the contract. And the contractor is expected to deliver the agreed-upon results.

By adhering to these guidelines, independent contractors under Ohio ACE contribute their specialized skills and services while maintaining a distinct legal and financial separation from the organization’s employee structure.
